Windows 98 Set-Up Tutorial

1. To make a new connection, click on the My Computer icon from the desktop.

2. Click on the Dial-Up Networking icon.

3. Click on the Make New Connection icon.

4. Type in a name for your connection (Local Area Yellow Pages).

5. Your modem should be selected.
If you have more than one, select the one you want to use.

6. Click Next.

7. Type in your Dialer phone number. You can find your number in the Access Numbers pages.

8. Click Next.

You have now made a new connection (Local Area Yellow Pages).

9. Click Finish.

10. Go back to your Dial-Up Networking folder. You'll see a new connection (Local Area Yellow Pages).

Use your right mouse button and click on it, you will see a drop down menu, select properties.

11. Click on the Server Types tab on the top.

12. Make sure PPP is selected from the drop down list.

 

13. Make sure TCP/IP is selected.

 

14. Click on "TCP/IP Settings" button.

15. Select "Server assigned IP address" button.

 

16. Select "Server assigned name server addresses" button.

 

17. Click OK.
